Theuniskraal – A Family Affair

One of the most beautiful destinations to spend a leisurely afternoon, this time of the year, is picturesque Tulbagh.

The historic town is not only known for its natural beauty and National Monuments, it also offers superb conditions for winemaking, in fact they are proud to have the first white-wine making wine estate in South Africa.

Just 7 km outside Tulbagh, in the Winterhoek valley, lies Theuniskraal, a family-run farm famous for its Cape Riesling, which they have produced since 1948. Today the farm is in the hands of the third generation of the Jordaan family, with Andries Jordaan Jnr as the winemaker and his two cousins, Flippie and Wagner the viticulturists, taking care of the 140 ha vineyards.
